Even if they decide not to offer you the job or you decide not to accept an offer, you'll be able to get a better feel for what opportunities are out there and meet some new people in your field. It's also a chance for you to interview them. And they should be putting their best foot forward if they want you. Use the opportunity to ask them pointed questions and you should come out with a better sense of whether or not you would want the job.

Congrats on scoring the interview, by the way :)Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08306817679561629773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37476114.post-4941870169309658792008-03-03T21:25:00.000-05:002008-03-03T21:25:00.000-05:00Nice work! It's gotta be a great feeling that they want to interview you.

And I agree with the post above, that it's actually best to job hunt when you're not desperate to get away from your job. You're right to ask a lot of questions, bring up any offer to your current employer, and see which is the best option for you.

Good luck! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37476114.post-84984327752163831242008-03-03T16:47:00.000-05:002008-03-03T16:47:00.000-05:00I had a similar situation last year - I applied fo...I had a similar situation last year - I applied for a job 'just because', I ended up interviewing and they offered me the position. I didn't take it because it would've meant relocating, but it was a nice ego boost that someone else was interested in my talents!

I think you interview better when you're not feeling job hunt pressure. I also let my employer know after the fact that I'd been offered a job (I work in a field where it probably would've gotten out anyway) and that helped me get a promotion later in the year.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
