In less than half an hour, I'm meeting with the two editors for whom I work for a six-months-in performance review-style chat. Given my characteristically all-or-nothing thinking, I think they're either going to give me a raise (a little one) or fire me.
Cross your fingers for the raise and not the firing.

At my first full-time job out of college, I thought good review = raise... because that's what the case had been at all of my college jobs. You can imagine my disappointment when at my six-month review, I got great comments... and no extra money. :( Hopefully your place is different (fingers crossed!), but every job I've held since graduation evaluated raises on an annual basis.
