I spent two evenings this past week at the Crocodile Lounge. I never return to a bar that fast. And, okay, the fact that I left a bag of tupperwares there did have something to do with it, but not everything, because I didn't have to stay for two beers. But I did. Because seven bucks (including tip) buys you a beer and a personal pizza.
Oh, yes. That's right. With every beer, you get a ticket entitling you to one free personal pizza. Which isn't as bad as you would expect from a free pizza. In fact, it's quite tasty, especially if you eat it right out of the oven, when the pan burns your fingertips and the molten, gushy cheese scalds the roof of your mouth. Delicious. For seven dollars, you get dinner and beer!
Even better, go for Happy Hour (weekdays, 4-6), and get beer for $3, well cocktails for $4. Still with free pizza.
I wouldn't plug the great deal if it weren't such a great bar. It's laid-back and unpretentious and has Skee-Ball in the back room. And the music is great. And, at 14th between 1st & 2nd Avenues, it's close to the excellent and extremely free people-watching in Union Square. Which is how I wound up my Friday evening (well, that, a cigarette, a cute boy, and a $2.99 bag of Trader Joe's chocolate-covered pretzels). I recommend it.

Wait, what exactly were you doing with a bag of tupperware at a bar?
I've brought many things into bars, but I don't think tupperware was one of them.
Oh I'm glad you posted this! I found this bar on Citysearch and was wondering if it was worth adding this bar to our list of places to go next weekend.
Hello,
I just wanted to say hello, I've been reading your blog for quite a while now, this my "out of lurking" comment. I've been wanting to start my own - So I finally did!
Thanks for all the great advice! I'll definitely be back.
-Emm.
him, I have this habit of bringing lunch to work in tupperware containers, and then not bringing them home. So, I left work with a bag of tupperwares, intending to go right home to dump them in my sink and wash them out, and then K called to remind me that we'd wanted to go to the Crocodile for trivia night (my friend anchors a team every week). So then we went, and had a couple of beers, and then we won, and got a $50 bar tab, and did some shots, and then I was drunk and forgot my bag full of tupperware.
ms. miniducky, definitely hit it up! Save yourself money on dinner!
and emm, welcome to non-lurkerdom! I'll check out your blog!
Sounds like such a cool place! Almost makes me wish I went to NY for law school. ;)
So was your tupperware still there when you went back?
It was indeed, anonymous!
I wish there was a bar like that near me. Fortunately, the ones out here are relatively cheap for mixed drinks... but there isn't any bonus pizza. :-(
LOL. I'm pretty sure I've been guilty of bringing tupperware into a bar before. Not sure if I've actually left any tupperware in a bar before, though...
Adding Crocodile Lounge to my "to-do" list for next month. :)
I live near the Alligator Lounge (Lorimer and Metropolitan) which is owned by the same people.
Except since its Brooklyn, its $4 for a beer and pizza, and they have a wood oven for theirs. For $1 you can add meat to it too. Saves me when I mess up dinner.
Once I left a bag of newly purchased panties at the Angelica.
I just have to say I LOOOOVE TJ's chocolate covered pretzels. I really like the dark chocolate and I could eat them by the bag.
