Winter Sucks

This is essentially unrelated to personal finance: but for serious, I am ready for spring. All I really want to do is sit outside and not be cold and wet and miserable--to sit outside and eat some fresh fruit and hang out with some people and maybe go see a free concert or something. I hate how in the winter you have to make plans that are inside (and thus, often, require shelling out for drinks or coffee or whatever), and how you can't just go buy tomatoes and corn for dinner at the last-est of last minutes.

Come back, warm weather! Shakespeare in the Park and sunshine, where are you?

I long for a picnic.

Hear, Hear!

Spoken like someone who has slogged home through a gray New York rain. Hang in there, Spring is closing in on us.

On the news the other day, they compared the amount of snow last year in Chicago with the amount this year. At that point (that is, before the blizzard last night and the pending snowfall Thursday), these were the stats:

Last year: around 12 inches.
This year: over 45.

Yeah. I am with you; I am so with you.

Oh, winter.

Oh my god I am with you (and gg, apparently). Here in CA, we've been getting teased with beautiful weather (like today) sprinkled into days upon days of rain and grayness. I'd almost rather not have any gorgeous, sunny days until they're ready to stay!

Oh, to grab a bag of cherries from the farmers market and sit in the grass, barefoot, eating them and basking in the sunlight!

I'm in St. Louis, and although normally I like winter, I've had it with the ice and snow this year. Plus, the even-worse weather in Chicago means no more road trips to one of the greatest cities in the country until spring. :) I've been dreaming of a vacation to California or Florida...but that doesn't really fit in with the financial plan.

Shout out from Philly and I'm yearning for Spring....

The only downside is I shudder at the thought of releasing my legs from underneath the wool pants and/or tights that I'm currently wearing to work. Not only are they pasty white, but I've been hibernating for winter so there's an extra 5 lbs. or so hanging around on each one. *sigh*

And not just too much snow around Chicago. The cold! And no sun for weeks and weeks! March has to be better. Can we hang in for another three days?

I'm laughing because last night I heard someone describe this time of year as when we're all ready to kill ourselves. So true!

I'm just glad New York isn't getting hit with all the snow and ice that they're getting in the Midwest. We've had a nice mild winter in comparison.

It's still technically summer here in Melbourne, and February is generally the hottest day of the year, but it's freezing today! Only about 15 degrees C (59 degrees F)! (I know that's not cold, but it's SUMMER!)
