How I Got a $10 Starbucks Card for Free

I'm a member of MyPoints.com, which is one of those online shopping rewards sites. As far as those sites go, it doesn't hold a candle to Fatwallet (of which I'm not actually a member), but here's what it does do: it lets you sign up to earn points by reading what's basically spam. They send me two or three emails a day. I click a link and earn 5 points per email. And then, several months but basically zero effort later, I cash in my points for free Starbucks. I could have gotten something more useful, but I figure hey, as long as it's free, get the luxury.

If you're interested, I'll send you a referral (which earns us both points), but one caveat: don't do this if you're susceptible to ads. I don't even load the images on my webmail, and I close the windows before the linked pages fully load, so I've never bought something I wouldn't have otherwise bought (in fact, the only thing I've ever bought through MyPoints is a dress from Nordstrom's site). Nevertheless, they're sending you ads, and if that'll throw a monkey wrench in your routine, skip it.

I use mypoints too! I don't really use their ads to buy anything, but I did get 1000 points for using their link to Netflix (plus I used a code to get a month free). And recently, I got a membership to AAA (previously, I'd been under my parents plan). And I used MyPoints for another 1000 points and a discount & an extra 2 months on the membership! All in all, opening emails is easy & giftcards are awesome!

I use MyPoints too and since I am always at WalMart I trade in my points (no pun intended) for WalMart gift cards.

I've had Mypoints for 2 years. I love it. Like you I just click on the link, reduce the window and then delete it without even looking at it most of the time. The only things I use are the things I would buy anyway (my business cards from Vistaprint when I moved-I always print up family business cards with our addy and phone, our printer ink refills from 123injets etc etc)

This year I had enough points to get all 4 teachers at my son's nursery school $5 gift cards to Red Lobster to stick in their Christmas Cards. So for nothing I was able to give them a nice little extra in their holiday card. I've also used the points to buy phone minutes to send to family far away, to buy home depot cards for DH's Christmas stocking etc etc.

And I don't even do those annoying surveys or referr anyone else.

Oh, and I forgot to say that they have an online marketplace too, so whenever I am going to shop online, I always check to see if the merchant I am using is on their marketplace. Frequently if you are ordering from someplace like bestbuy or JC Penney you can go through them and get 2 points per dollar.

Hey guys--I've sent out all the referrals requested up to this point, but I'm not sure the first batch worked--let me know if yours doesn't arrive.

No, I don't think mine arrived. Could you please send it again?

It worked the second time. Thank you!
